Prep Done Right: Diamond Grinding

A coating is only as good as the concrete under it. Most peeling and flaking floors fail because the slab was never properly prepared. That is why every Star Epoxy floor starts with diamond grinding, no matter the system or the size of the job.

Step 1: Slab Check

We look at your concrete in person during the free estimate. We check for cracks, spalls, old coatings, sealers, oil stains and moisture so we know exactly what your slab needs before we start.

Step 2: Diamond Grinding

We grind the entire floor with diamond tooling. Grinding removes the weak top layer, old sealers and surface stains and opens up the concrete so the coating can grip it. This is the step that keeps your floor from peeling.

Step 3: Crack, Spall & Joint Repair

We clean out and fill cracks, rebuild chipped and broken areas, and repair control joints so the finished floor looks clean and lasts.

Step 4: Clean Slab, Then Coating

We clean the slab thoroughly, then install your system: flake, metallic, quartz, solid color, polyaspartic, urethane or polished concrete.

Why It Matters

Skipping grinding saves time on install day but costs you later. A properly ground slab gives the coating a strong, permanent bond, so your floor stands up to hot tires, heavy traffic and Texas heat.
