How a Professional Epoxy Garage Floor Is Installed in DFW: Our 4-Step Process
If you're thinking about an epoxy garage floor in Fort Worth, Dallas or anywhere in DFW, the biggest question is usually what actually happens on install day. Here's exactly how Star Epoxy does it, and why each step matters.
Step 1: A free on-site visit
We come out, measure the garage and check the concrete for cracks, spalls, moisture and old coatings. You get a clear written price and a timeline before anything is scheduled. Call or text 682-475-2088 to set one up.
Step 2: Diamond grinding and repairs
This is the step that decides whether a floor lasts. We diamond-grind the whole slab to open up the concrete so the coating can bond to it. Then we fill cracks and spalls so they don't show through. Floors that skip grinding are the ones that peel.
Step 3: Base coat and color
We roll on an epoxy base coat, then add your color layer:
Flake: colored chips broadcast across the floor. Hides dust and wear and adds light texture for grip. Our most popular garage floor.
Quartz: colored quartz sand built up in layers. Very tough and slip-resistant. Good for porches, patios and wet areas.
Metallic: a one-of-a-kind swirled, glossy look. Popular in showroom garages and homes.
Step 4: Protective topcoat
We finish most floors with a polyaspartic topcoat. It cures fast, stays clear in the Texas sun instead of yellowing, and stands up to hot tires, oil and chemicals.
How long does it take?
Most 2-car garages take 1 to 2 days. Walking on it is usually fine the next day, and most people park on it within a few days. We'll give you exact times for your floor.
